Text missing in HD 2 and Sabre Squadron menus and subtitles

Hmm...

No, at the time I didn't think of it, I had remembered those links being broken. I was planning on going back in there and changing the link to this site, but never got around to it.

Now it has been done, just over two years later!

Well...I did all that and still no go. I just cant understand the problem here. Does anybody know the font set that this game uses. I will reinstall that font if I find out. There has got to be a solution to this craziness...just has to be

You mean you deleted fonts?

Now that you have the "real" version, I suggest you contact tech support...

They might know the answer...

i have the same problem now. some time ago it worked perfect. but when i wanted to install it again the text was missing in menu's and in the game

Hi, sorry to bump such an old thread... I have a legal H&D2, but as I live in Germany it is in German (I expected to be able to select the language!)

Can someone give me guidance as to how I can change the language to English. Maybe post the texty files that have been mentioned here?

How many language folders do you have under your Text folder? You may need to unpack the files first use the unpacker here: index.php/topic,927.0.html

I have 9 languages including German so you must have them somewhere. Maybe you can unpack the files then simply replace the German txts with English?

I have only "Fonts" & "german" under '... Hidden & Dangerous 2\Text\'

I have downloaded the unpacker & unzipped the files to "hidden & dangerous 2" directory, but I can't get the command line to cd to "hidden & dangerous 2"

Any ideas?

Go to start, click run, type cmd then type: cd "C:\Program Files\Il
lusion Softworks\Hidden & Dangerous 2"
Make sure you have the directory in quotes. Then once there type DTAUnpacker

which dta file should I unpack: others, sounds or scripts ??

(assuming it's not models, missions or maps of course)

So, I unpacked 'em all

Nothing has appeared that looks like the language files

All the sound files are in German, which makes me think that this 'cheap' version only comes with the native language of where it was bought ie Germany.

Is that normal practice for budget titles?

I would love to get this working in English cos my German is really not good

Alright here are the english text files, I'm guessing you just rename the folder: English text files

Not sure if it's standard practice for budget copies.

Thanks Jason,
I removed my original 'text' folder & uzipped your english files to 'H&D2' folder.
When I started the game, a windows dialog came up saying it was configuring H&D2. It was accessing the cd during this phase.
When that had finished, it said I had the wrong cd key

So, thanks for your help, but it looks like it is purely a German copy

Maybe later I can find m'self a 'proper' copy

Did you rename the english folder to german? that is what you should do
