So after several years, I found H&D2 again. Obviously, I wanted to start playing asap seeing this was/is the best war game I've ever played on my computer. I'm using Windows 7, and the installation goes perfect until 53%. It says:
Error blabla reading from file C:\Program blabla ... Sounds.dta. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
I've probably searched the entire internet but I just don't get it. I've seen people saying that it should work perfectly on Windows 7 so yeah.. I'm getting kinda desperate. Especially since my knowledge about computers is pathetic, I'm not a diehard gamer, I'd just love to start playing this game again The multiplayer was awesome.
If anyone could help me, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
A computer-noob
(btw, English is my third language so I might have trouble understanding difficult computer language, just saying )
EDIT: After cancelling the installation, a message pops up saying there was a fatal error. It tells me to consult Windows Installer Help or MSDN for more information. But I have no idea what it means and would prefer not to screw up my computer by doing stupid stuff which I don't understand..

Welcome to the forums
Are the CDs scratch free and completely clean?
Have you had any issues installing any other games?

Thanks, I'm liking this place
Yeah, the discs are in good shape. I haven't had trouble with any other game before, I've already installed some other oldies like Simcity 4 Deluxe, Zoo Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon, RCT3, Medieval 2: Total War and Age of Empires 3. Which is why I was surprised that this one doesn't work.

Perhaps you can make an ISO backup of your disc 2 using Daemon Tools Lite: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/products/dtLite
Then try and install using that?
